What is the Evil Eye?

The Evil Eye has been around since the beginning of time. It plainly means sending man a concept that seems intrusive or invasive or has the power to hurt him or her. The bad fortune that results is carefully to have been caused by envy. The evil eye is not necessarily carefully to be intentional or associated with witchcraft or sorcery. Oddly enough, this concept form could honestly be complimentary in nature. The origins of the Evil Eye are Middle-Eastern and Mediterranean. The concept was introduced into the Americas, South Pacific Islands, Asia, Africa and Australia by European explorers.

Sending man the evil eye comes from the concept that we all have a Third Eye, settled in the center of our forehead. Blinding, fogging or blurring the third eye is often the intent of the energy's sender. Most of us have experienced the weird power of the phenomenon. All it takes is a gaze that seems to be unfriendly, indifferent or blank and seems to a concentrate of seconds too long. We think about it for a few minutes afterwards or maybe an image of the man staring at us preoccupies our thoughts occasionally for the rest of the day. maybe that is why the British and Scottish term for the "evil eye" is "overlooking." It implies that a gaze has remained too long upon the coveted object, man or animal.

Australia Newspaper

The evil eye is also known as the envious or invidious eye. In Italian it is called the malocchio and in Spanish the malojo (loosely translated as the bad eye) The evil eye is known as ayin horeh in Hebrew; ayin harsha in Arabic, droch shuil in Scotland, mauvais oeil in France, bösen Blick in Germany, and was known as oculus malus among the classical Romans.

What is the Evil Eye?

The former reliance is that any man can harm your children, livestock, fruit trees or any other evidence of prosperity just by seeing at the spoils of all your good will and hard work with envy. Ironically, the curse of the evil eye is concept to be provoked by inappropriate displays of spiritual pride or excessive beauty. There is a system that very renowned citizen and celebrities suffer more personal misfortune than others plainly because they are subjected to more "overlooking" and envy than others.

This superstition might have some grounding in evolutionary psychology as commonly one animal is concept to dominate or be aggressive to another plainly by staring at it for too long. Psychologically speaking, staring or glaring at man is officially carefully an intrusion into your affairs. Apparently, there is a fine line in the middle of casting a notice to casting a spell. In these post Celestine Prophecy times, this kind of stare could be compared to a kind of etheric laser beam or amoebic arm that rips open your aura. Others would recite the infliction of the evil eye as the projection of an image (such as the image of the man you have offended or hurt) so that you see only that to the exclusion of all other sight. In other words, you see that man wherever you go or feel that your life's events are always colored by your dealing with that person. another symptom is the inability to hike with ordinary, daily events without feeling somehow compelled to make things right with the man you have often unknowingly offended with your grandiosity.

It is base folklore that the evil eye has a dehydrating consequent on its victim. It is concept to cause vomiting, diarrhea, the drying up of the milk of nursing mothers and livestock, problems with the blood, eyesight lack of rain, the drying up of wells, the withering of fruit and impotence in men. Clumsiness, stomachaches, dry coughs, diarrhea, itching, hair loss, dry skin are all concept to be corporeal symptoms of an evil eye attack e. On the astral level it is concept to cause the drying up of prana, chi, life force and the easy flow of prosperity in life. Part of this image might fetch from the idea also, of muddy, murky or poisoned vision that is somehow attached to the victim's third eye.

Almost in any place that the evil eye reliance exists, it is said to be caused accidentally by envy or praise. Thus the phrase "Pride Goeth Before a Fall" In inevitable Mediterranean and eastern cultures, one is specific not to praise a child too much, lest it ask the subconscious balancing consequent of the evil eye. A classic situation would be the barren woman who praises the newborn baby of a new child. Such praise would be carefully inappropriate and concept to bring the evil child. One of the remedies for this would be for the mother to spit, to symbolically "rehydrate" the situation. Also, she may speak ill of the child Ot counteract the effects of the praise, which might have malefic effects on the child later.

The reliance that individuals have the power to cast the evil eye on purpose is more idiosyncratic to Sicily and Southern Italy, although the reliance has honestly spread elsewhere - to the Southern United States and the Latin Americas. Such citizen are known as jettatore (projectors). They are not necessarily carefully evil or envious, just born with an unfortunate embarrassing talent that causes others to avoid them. In ancient cultures, if you were concept to be the holder of an evil eye, you were often negated by the rest of society and went unrecognized on the street without meeting anyone's eyes.

Perhaps one of the most customary deterrent measures against the evil eye is the hand gesture. The Mano Cornufo or "Horned Hand" involves extending the first and index fingers from a fist. The Mano Fico or "Fig hand" involves placing the thumb in in the middle of first and second fingers.
Historically there have been many cures for the evil eye:

In Italy, the evil eye is diagnosed by dripping olive oil into a vessel filled with water. If the oil conglomerates into the shape of an eye than the victim is carefully officially cursed. Prayers are recited until the droplets of oil no longer create an eye shape.

In Eastern Europe charcoal, coal or burnt match heads are dropped into a pan of water/. If the items float then the man is carefully to be the victim of a curse.

In the Ukraine, a form of ceromancy or candle reading is used to diagnose the curse. Melted wax is dripped from a candle into a pan of water. If the wax spits, splatters, or sticks to the side of the bowl then the "patient" is carefully to be under the work on of the malefic eye. commonly the sick person is cleansed with Holy Water. He or she is pronounced cured when the dripped wax sinks the lowest of the bowl in a round ball.

In Greece Mexico and other places, the valid cure is to ask the culprit responsible for the evil eye to spit in a vessel of the holy water that is consumed by the victim.

In Mexico, rolling a raw egg over the body of the victim is the antidote. Afterwards, it is cracked open and if the metaphysician or healer divines the shape of an eye in the yolks then the man is carefully to be cursed. Any eggs may be repeatedly rolled over the person's body until an egg without an eye if found. Sometimes the egg is settled underneath the person's bed overnight and cracked open in the morning.

In China the remedy for the evil eye is the Pa Kua mirror, a six-sided mirror that is hung on the front door or settled in the front window to reverse bad vigor back to the sender. Some of these mirrors are convex to reflect back the bad "poison darts" or "arrows" of multiple ill wishers and some are concave to reflect vigor in a specific direction back at, for instance, a nosy neighbor, whose gaze may have lingered on your garden of tulips for too long. In Feng Shui, mirrors are often used as a cure all to reflect negative vigor back at all kinds of things - people, bad architecture, traffic, neighbors, corporeal obstructions such as trees or rocks or anyone else that might carefully to be a conductor of Har Shui (negative vibrations).

In India the mirroring back of the evil eye takes the form of small mirrors that are sewn, braided or crocheted into clothing. This mirroring back of bad vigor is also customary to practitioners of Wicca and Lukumi or Santeria. In India, the human eye is also carefully to be a mirror of the soul. Indian women wear kohl or heavy black makeup to emphasize their eyes not only to shield themselves from evil eye but also to preclude themselves from accidentally inflicting it on others. In India cords strung with blue beads are settled on newborn babies. When the cord breaks and the beads are lost the child is carefully to have a strong enough aura to safe him or herself from the evil eye. Red cords worn upon the wrist or neck are concept to have a grand consequent against ocular malevolence. A silver charm called Eye of Buddha which references the Gautama Buddha is also worn against astral attack.

In Italy, gold, silver or gems carved or cast into the shape of the Mano Fica or Mano Cornufa are used to repel the evil. The most coveted ones are made of red coral, but many versions exist today made of gemstones and plastic. They are worn by men to safe against the withering of the genitals concept to be caused by the bad eye. Also Italian in origin is the Corno or horn or devil's horn amulet that is concept to safe against the same dysfunction. The women's version is made from a twig of red coral.

In Arab cultures, superstitious types wear an eye in the form of a stone cast in the center of a hand shaped bone or metal charm A base Egyptian charm is the Buckle of Isis which represents the menstrual pad of the Goddess Isis who was the mother of all living things. Stuffing a little prayer or spell inside a locket that is hung around the neck is the base European custom for protecting oneself against deadly gazes.

A light worker such as myself might advise you to safe yourself in the following contemporary ways:

Always pronounce the reliance that nobody has the power to hurt you with a look. This in itself is a very grand concept form.

Before you go out, imagine that your third eye is honestly covered by something that looks like a small pocket mirror. If you are a psychic or a healer then plainly close your third eye and don't open it unless you want to look.

If you are feeling haunted or upset as the consequent of a "look", press your thumb hard into the center of your forehead and imagine your third eye quickly flipping. Flick the vigor away with your thumb and snap your fingers.

Always remember that what you resist often persists. The phrase "Oh, so what!" is one of the most grand chemicals in the universe that you can use to dissolve negative energy.

What is the Evil Eye?Obama = Joker? Video Clips. Duration : 4.87 Mins.

Greetings, Godless Heathens, Fanatical Zealots and the rest of you. This image recently appeared in the Herald Sun, a newspaper in Australia. It depicts a photo of Obama made up to look like the Heath Ledger version of the Joker, with the word Socialist on the bottom. It was apparently provoked by Obamas policy on healthcare. This one image says WAY more about Republicans than I ever could. They have mistaken Anarchy with Liberalism, Liberalism with Socialism, and Anti-Intellectual Massacres with Free Healthcare. In general, I have very little respect for those who abuse the word Socialist by using it to describe any remotely left-wing idea. These people are either so right-wing fascist that they actually think that anyone who doesnt agree with Hitler is a Marxist, or they have a definition of Socialism thats so loose that it can apply to Democrats in general, or, in this case, Anarchists. Ive actually had Theists try and justify their accusation that all Atheists are Communists by saying that, by Communist, they mean ideas like acceptance, non-racism and so on. And of course, HowTheWorldWorks uses the word Marxism to describe Environmentalists, animal rights activists and those who think Laissez Faire sucks. In other words, whenever someone uses Socialism to refer to equality or things that actually help people, they are either lying to you or insane. The REASON Communism is so evil is because of the SIMILARITIES between Communism and fascism, not the differences. Things ...

Media And influence On Women Body Image

It has come to be clear now that the media advertises and promotes a very unhealthy trend of greatest dieting and other bad eating habits to women. Most of media sources put on their covers images of skinny emancipated females. Doing this they influence the subconscious mind of the masses. And women continue to spend their money trying to accomplish this unattainable look they permanently see in media advertising.

To try and solve this problem let's retort the next questions.

Australia Newspaper

  1. What is body image?
  2. What kind of trends in the media commerce are we noticing now?
  3. How do the media influence our perception of body image?
  4. What could be the reasons behind this?
  5. What are the consequences of this kind of trend?
  6. What are some real suggestions on how to improve your body image?

Media And influence On Women Body Image

Your body image is how you perceive, think and feel about your body. This may have no bearing at all on your actual appearance. For instance, it is tasteless in Western nations for women to believe they are larger and fatter than they admittedly are. Only one in five women is satisfied with their body weight. Nearly half of all normal weight women overestimate their size and shape. A distorted body image can lead to self-destructive behavior, like dieting or eating disorders. Almost nine out of 10 young Australian women have dieted at least once in their lives.

So, the basic trend in the media commerce at the occasion is to promote slim, even skinny unnatural seeing women's bodies as being beautiful.

Women of all ages but especially young women look at magazines, Tv, movies and other media products full of images that show skinny women's bodies. And these are perceived by the subconscious mind of young women as being a role model to effect and aspire to be like. Achieving this skinny look does not come naturally; it inevitably leads to practicing some kind of dieting, immoderate exercising or abnormal eating behaviors.

Twenty years ago, the mean model weighed 8 per cent less than the mean woman--but today's models weigh 23 per cent less. Advertisers believe that thin models sell products. When the Australian magazine New Woman recently included a picture of a heavy-set model on its cover, it received a truckload of letters from grateful readers praising the move. But its advertisers complained and the magazine returned to featuring bone-thin models.

What could be the intuit behind all this? Why has this fashion trend occurred now?
Why are standards of attractiveness being imposed on women, the majority of whom are simply larger than any of the models?

The reasons for this according to some analysts, is an economic one. By presenting an ideal look which is difficult to accomplish and avow the cosmetic and diet stock industries are assured of increase and profits. It is estimated that the diet commerce alone is worth 0 billion (U.S.) a year. This is a lot of money and admittedly worth their while to continue to raise emancipated women as being the norm.

And the consequences of this trend are huge. On the one hand, women who are insecure about their bodies are more likely to buy attractiveness products, new clothes, and diet pills or other diet supplies.

On the other hand, investigate indicates that exposure to images of thin, young, air-brushed female bodies is related to depression, loss of self-esteem and the amelioration of unhealthy eating habits in women and girls.

The level of eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia are expanding rapidly every year. It is estimated that nearby 5 per cent of women and 1 percent of men have an eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia or binge eating some time in their life.

And about 15 per cent of all young women have significantly distorted eating attitudes and behavior that can lead to developing anorexia or bulimia in the near future.

So, what would be some real suggestions on how to improve your body image without resorting to unhealthy eating habits?

The First one is to turn your goal from weight loss to just enhancing your health. Second, is to focus more the internal attractiveness like enhancing your self-esteem, self-confidence and internal strengths of your character.
Get informed by reading up on body image issues and self-improvement books. And give yourself a break from women's magazines and the mass media advertising for a while if you feel you maybe prone to this kind of false perceptions.

To sum up, the media does impact on women's body image significantly and it can influence women's bodily and thinking condition in a negative way. And the only way to stop these negative effects advent from the media is to teach women not to judge themselves by the attractiveness industry's standards and learn not to correlate themselves to the cover girls. And also it is leading to promote a wholesome life style with emphasis on internal attractiveness like enhancing self-esteem and self-confidence. Not on being a stick like model.

Alcohol associated Car Accidents

The alarming figures with regard to the amount of deaths caused by car accidents that involve alcohol have prompted state governments and the Federal Government to take primary steps to prevent fatalities. One of these steps is to lower the permissible blood alcohol attention (Bac) from 100 mg/dl to 80 mg/dl. However, such measures have proven to be inadequate as more recent figures show a dramatic increase in deaths caused by car accidents attractive alcohol. More stringent laws have to be enacted to prevent these accidents, which may consist of imposing stiffer penalties for Dui or driving under the sway cases.

Recent figures show that instead of the thinkable, decrease in the amount of alcohol associated deaths as a succeed of imposing a lower Bac, quite the opposite has occurred. In the last ten years, colse to 250,000 citizen died in alcohol associated car accidents in the United States. Figures show that 16,000 citizen were killed in the year 2000, due to alcohol associated accidents. In 2004, that figured climbed to 25,000. This means that 500 citizen die every week and 71 citizen die everyday in alcohol associated car accidents.

Australia Newspaper

In increasing to these figures, estimates show that the economic and societal cost of alcohol associated car accidents are very high. Alcohol impaired drivers cost American taxpayers about 21 to 24 billion dollars a year. Other studies show a much higher frame of 6 billion dollars is spent on alcohol associated accidents. This is in increasing to the huge assurance costs of alcohol associated accidents and the injury, destruction and death that come with them.

Alcohol associated Car Accidents

State and Federal Governments have lowered the permissible Bac that is aimed at lowering the amount of deaths caused by drunk driving. However, recent figures show that there has been a dramatic increase in the amount of deaths caused by drunk driving. Given this, there may be a need for more stringent interventions, such as imposing stiffer penalties for Dui cases. This has the possible of effectively preventing more deaths caused by alcohol associated car accidents.

References: docs.google.com Tim Rock of Guam's Pacific Daily news interviewed Gerald Heslinga at the MMDC (Micronesian Mariculture Demonstration Center) in Palau in November, 1984. Rock's interview and videography above and below the water led to the broadcast of this video on Guam television that month, and also to a feature article entitled "Giant Clams: Micronesia's Cash Crop of the Future" which appeared November 25, 1984, in Guam's Pacific Daily News. As noted in the PDN article, by November, 1984, the MMDC had already produced over 100000 seed clams of mean size 1 cm or larger between 1979 and 1984, mostly of T. derasa but also more than 10000 specimens of T. gigas (illustrated in Figure 2 of Heslinga et al., 1984), and thousands of T. squamosa and Hippopus hippopus juveniles. On 5/21/85, MMDC harvested 340200 Tridacna derasa seed of mean size 3.8 mm. By 1987 MMDC had surpassed the million mark in tridacnid clam seed production and had produced over 30 tons of cultured clam biomass on site. This figure would reach 100 tons by 1994 and does not include the substantial biomass produced on dozens of clam nurseries established locally and internationally with seedstock from MMDC during that era. Also noteworthy is that at time this video was broadcast on Guam television in November, 1984, the MMDC staff had already conclusively closed the life cycle of Tridacna derasa by raising more than 100 specimens to full reproductive (male plus female phase) maturity at 5 years ...
